Comparing Documents
Instantly compare two documents with AI-powered change detection.
Compare gives you an instant, AI-powered comparison between two documents. Upload an original and a modified version, and Irys highlights every difference with a natural-language summary and detailed redline.
Starting a comparison
Compare supports .docx format for document comparison.
AI Change Summary
Once the comparison completes, Irys generates an AI Change Summary at the top of the results. This includes:
A natural-language description of the differences between the two documents — what was added, removed, and modified, explained in plain English.
Recommendations highlighting changes that may need attention, such as altered obligations, shifted deadlines, or removed protections.
The summary gives you immediate context before you dive into the line-by-line details.
Stats bar
Below the summary, a stats bar shows word-level metrics:
Words added
Number and percentage of new words in the modified document.
Words removed
Number and percentage of words deleted from the original.
Words unchanged
Number and percentage of words that remain the same.
This gives you a quick sense of how much has changed between the two versions.
View modes
Toggle between two view modes to review changes:
Side by Side
Both documents are displayed in parallel panels with synchronized scrolling. Differences are highlighted in each panel so you can see exactly what changed and where.
Redline
A single-document view with inline markup showing additions, deletions, and modifications. This is the traditional legal redline format — added text is marked, removed text is struck through, and you can read through the document as a single narrative.
Exporting the redline
Export your comparison results to share with colleagues or include in your records. Click Export to download the redline view as a document.
Comparison history
Previous comparisons are saved so you can return to them later. Access your comparison history from the Compare page to re-open past results without re-uploading documents.
