Exporting Documents
Export documents as DOCX or PDF, manage versions, and save drafts back to your Matter.
Export as DOCX
Click Export in the toolbar.
Select DOCX.
The file downloads to your computer with formatting, styles, and tables preserved.
The exported .docx file is fully compatible with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and other word processors.
Tracked changes that have not been accepted or rejected are resolved (accepted) in the exported file. If you want to preserve redlines in the export, accept or reject changes selectively before exporting.
Export as PDF
Click Export in the toolbar.
Select PDF.
A print-ready PDF downloads to your computer.
The PDF reflects the document exactly as it appears in the editor, including headers, footers, and page breaks.
Versioning
The Drafting Assistant includes a built-in versioning system so you can snapshot your work at any point and return to earlier drafts.
Save to this version
Overwrites the current version in place. Use this when you want to update your working copy without creating a new history entry.
Save to new version
Creates a new entry in the version history. Use this before making major edits so you have a clean rollback point.
Version history
Open the Version History panel to see all saved versions. From this panel you can:
Preview any past version in a read-only view.
Restore a past version, which replaces the current document content.
Compare two versions side by side to see what changed.
Restoring a past version replaces your current document content. Save a new version first if you want to preserve your current work.
Saving drafts back to the Matter
When you are finished editing, you can save the document directly to the Matter's file library:
Click Save to Matter in the toolbar.
Choose whether to overwrite the existing file or save as a new document.
The draft appears in the Matter's documents list, accessible to anyone with Matter access.
This keeps all drafts organized alongside the rest of the case materials.
