Knowledge Graph

Visualize how documents, entities, and concepts relate within a Matter.

The Knowledge Graph provides a visual representation of the relationships between documents, entities, and concepts within a Matter. It helps you see connections that might not be obvious from reading documents individually.

What the Knowledge Graph shows

The Knowledge Graph maps out:

  • Documents — Each document in the Matter appears as a node.

  • Entities — People, organizations, dates, clauses, and other key entities extracted from your documents.

  • Concepts — Themes and topics identified across the Matter's content.

  • Relationships — Lines connecting nodes show how documents, entities, and concepts relate to each other.

The Knowledge Graph is built automatically as you upload documents to a Matter. The more documents you add, the richer the graph becomes.

Accessing the Knowledge Graph

Open any Matter and navigate to the Knowledge Graph panel in the 6-panel layout. The graph renders based on all documents currently in the Matter.

How AI uses the graph

The Knowledge Graph is not just a visualization tool — it actively improves the AI's ability to work with your documents:

  • Better retrieval — When you ask a question, the AI uses graph relationships to find the most relevant passages, not just keyword matches.

  • Improved reasoning — Understanding how entities and concepts connect allows the AI to provide more accurate, context-aware answers.

  • Cross-document insight — The graph helps the AI identify patterns and connections that span multiple documents within the Matter.

  • Zoom in and out to focus on specific clusters or see the full picture.

  • Click on any node to see details about that document, entity, or concept.

  • Hover over relationship lines to see how two nodes are connected.

The graph updates as you add or remove documents from the Matter, keeping the visualization current with your workspace.
