Overview
The context layer behind everything in Irys One.
Matters and Library are the foundation of how you organize and work in Irys One.
What is a Matter?
A Matter is the unit of work in Irys One — a shared workspace that brings together documents, conversations, research, drafts, tasks, and knowledge into a single context. Every tool in Irys One shares Matter context, so you upload once and use everywhere.
When you upload a document to a Matter, it becomes available to Document Analysis, Compare, Chat, and every other tool — no re-uploading, no duplicating files across workflows.
What is the Library?
The Library is your centralized document repository. Every document you upload — whether through a Matter, Document Analysis, or Compare — lives in the Library. You can organize documents into folders, search across your entire collection, and access anything from a single location.
How they work together
Together, Matters and Library form the context layer behind everything in Irys One:
Matters give your work structure and shared context. Open a Matter for a deal, a case, a project — then every tool you use operates within that context.
Library gives you a single source of truth for all documents. Folders are automatically created and linked when you create a Matter.
Think of a Matter as your workspace and the Library as your filing cabinet. The Matter is where the work happens; the Library is where everything is stored.
