Overview
Create reusable document templates with dynamic variable fields that can be filled in for any client or matter.
The Template Builder lets you create standardized document templates once and reuse them across every client and matter. Upload a .docx as your starting point, insert {{fieldName}} placeholders wherever information changes between uses, and save the template to your library for instant access.
Why templates?
Legal work is full of documents that follow the same structure but differ in the details — engagement letters, NDAs, demand letters, corporate resolutions. Instead of copying and editing old files, the Template Builder gives you a single source of truth for each document type. Update the template once and every future use reflects the change.
Key capabilities
Upload and edit
Start from any .docx file. The Template Builder opens it in the same full-featured rich text editor used by the Drafting Assistant, so you get familiar formatting tools — fonts, tables, headings, and paragraph styles — without leaving your browser.
Dynamic fields
Type {{clientName}}, {{matterNumber}}, or any custom placeholder directly into the document. Irys detects these automatically and lists them in the Template Fields panel. When someone uses the template, they fill in each field and the values are inserted throughout the document instantly.
Template dashboard
All saved templates appear in a searchable dashboard where you can:
Search by name or keyword.
Sort by date created, date modified, or name.
Edit a template to refine language or add new fields.
Duplicate a template to create a variant without starting from scratch.
Delete templates you no longer need.
Export
Export any template as a .docx file to share with colleagues who work outside of Irys One, or to keep an offline backup.
Templates are available to all members of your organization. Create shared templates for firm-wide standards and personal templates for your own workflows.
